UCEMC Takes Measures to Ease Financial Hardships During Crisis

UCEMCTruckLine

Upper Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation understands that many members are facing financial hardships due to layoffs, business and industry shutdowns, recent weather-related events, and difficulties resulting from the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. UCEMC has taken the following measures to help the community in this time of crisis.

                                              Effective March 19, 2020:

  • UCEMC has suspended disconnections of service for nonpayment of the electric bill. This deferral includes Pre-pay accounts.
  • We are waiving all late fees and penalties associated with the nonpayment of the electric bill.

These measures will remain in place until further notice. We want our members to understand that these measures do not imply that bills will not have to be paid or that the bills will be forgiven indefinitely. UCEMC hopes that these steps will help our members navigate their way through these uncertain times. Once this crisis is behind us, UCEMC will work with our members who have been directly or indirectly affected by COVID-19. Together, we will devise a payment plan to bring those accounts current.

UCEMC encourages our membership to make every effort to pay their electric bill if possible, to avoid significant past due amounts in the future.

                                             Effective March 23, 2020:

Effective at 2:30 p.m., March 23, UCEMC will forgo credit card convenience fees for payments of not more than $1,000.00.

The lobbies of all UCEMC District Offices are closed to the public as a precaution. Members may continue to pay bills, conduct Cooperative business, and apply for new service at the Drive-Thru Window of the District Offices located in Carthage, Cookeville, Livingston, and Gainesboro until further notice.

For more information on these irregular schedules and the payment options available during this crisis, visit ucemc.com, call us at 1.800.261.2940, or contact us at any UCEMC District Office.

We thank you for your membership and your support as we continue to provide you with safe and reliable electric service during these challenging times in our area.
